Welcome to Eileen family in Connemara

Hello from Connemara, we are a family of three. My dad is a stone mason by trade and we also have a small sheep farm. My mom works part time in Kylemore Abbey and myself Eileen attends Clifden Community School. We are a relaxed, easy-going family. My dad likes to spend a little time fishing and tending to his greenhouse. My mom likes to keep a very clean house and likes to cook and she also loves to spend time gardening. We also have a sheepdog to help on the farm, my mom doesn't let her in the house.

We have been hosting students for the full school year the past two years and hope to host this coming year. For the most part, the girls loved the experience and the school. They picked up lots of friends over their nine months here and are eager to return on their holidays. The students also enriched our life and were great company, especially for my dad, who is always asking them questions about their home and enjoyed telling them lots of stories and local folklore.

We would hope to offer anyone who is interested in staying with us a safe, clean, and friendly environment with opportunities to improve their English and engage with the local community and any activities they have going on at the time. Can’t wait to meet you all!

Each could have their own room with a queen bed but share a bathroom/shower.

We are a relaxed family, easy going and little house rules. No smoking or vaping in the house, that's about it.

A typical day with us

Much depends on the student, a mild climate so if they like outdoors, walking, swimming, cycling then ideal. We have a bus service to Galway city daily but quite a distance. 80 min trip.
Local town is Clifden for shopping.

In my free time as we live beside the sea I love to swim every chance I get. I'm also learning how to play my guitar. I love to spend time with my friends and have them for a sleepover when we can. We take day trips to Galway city, the bus travels from the local village daily and my dad is always on hand with his car to bring us. Connemara for the most part is a very safe and quiet location to live. We do get tourists over the summer months but not so many.

There is good bus service from Dublin Airport to Galway city, we can then collect there. Or if you wish, we can pick you up at the airport.

English is our first language, Irish very little. We can organize English lessons from home if needed.

Again we can be flexible with guests based on their interests and try to accommodate. Sports camps come and go throughout the summer, including Gaelic football and soccer. We are very close to the K2 adventure centre, so there are opportunities to plan a day there... The prices can be seen on their web page; no charge from us.
