From July to early October 2025 (three months on site), I had the chance to share the life of this wonderful family. My main goal was to reach a C1 level in English, starting from a long way behind… This goal was achieved, but far beyond that, I am left with an unforgettable memory of this long African stay.
Thanks to Dee, Erik, Kiara, Cassandra, Blane, and Antony, who made my integration into their clan completely natural, I very quickly felt at home, which greatly helped with learning the language. I can only thank them from the bottom of my heart, as they did absolutely everything to ensure I discovered as much as possible with them.
It would take too long to list all the outings, safaris, various visits, restaurants, activities, meetings with their friends, the fabulous barbecues… And then there is the African continent itself: so much change of scenery and constant beauty! Life there takes on a completely different dimension, shaking up our usual codes something I personally loved.
For this family, hosting someone is not a mere formality but a true vocation. They genuinely love it and do it with such kindness and dedication that the three months flew by. Of course, we are always happy to return home to our loved ones, but I must admit that I left them with tears in my eyes, even though I am still in touch with them since my return. In short, I left to join a host family, but I simply found a family of the heart in Africa.
So, a huge thank you to them for everything, and also to Lisa from Linguifamily, who masterfully handled the entire organization! And yes I speak English now!
