I had been studying for the DELE C1 exam with regular virtual classes with Mónica, and I decided to take the opportunity to participate in the immersion program that Mónica offers at her house in Barcelona. I do not regret it at all; an immersion program was exactly what I needed to understand, speak, and live like a native Spaniard. At first, I was a little nervous because I had never done something like this, but Mónica was very accommodating. We did a lot of activities, from city visits, museums, exploring nature reserves, not to mention all the amazing food. The classes were intense but not overwhelming, as Mónica tailored the course to my needs (especially the subjunctive!). I can't thank Mónica enough and her kind family for their hospitality during my stay. After deciding in 2022 that I was going to learn Spanish, and approaching 2023 without having learned a single word, I decided to venture into an immersion program. I had a great time, and Mónica made sure the classes were stimulating but not too difficult, and of course, fun! Sitting in a classroom reading books for hours is my idea of hell, so Mónica made sure that learning was engaging and interactive. The highlight was the visit to a local nature reserve with a donkey sanctuary. I loved seeing Barcelona, but also having the opportunity to see little towns like Argentona, filled with local culture. Before the trip, I had a zoom call with Mónica to break the ice, and Mónica asked me many questions about my interests and hobbies. This really helped me feel comfortable and know that my experience was going to be tailored to my liking.

I study Spanish at university, and to practice the language, I wanted to go on an immersion week. Through Linguifamily, I ended up at Mónica's place for 1 week. It was an IN-CRE-DIBLE experience. Our son, Jean, had a wonderful stay with Fiachra: full immersion (with lots of interaction and activities!), his Year-10 work placement validated by shadowing Fiachra at work, and a perfect relationship with Fiachra and his family (Jean truly felt like a member of the family!). And as the cherry on top, Fatima is an exceptional cook… Communication with Fiachra was very smooth before the stay, and the same goes for the Linguifamily team. In short, the perfect language stay!

With the goal of improving my English, I chose to spend a week in total immersion in England, with intensive lessons. Hello, I’m packing my bags to return to France after spending two weeks at Maria’s. The stay was very pleasant — the family welcomed me as if I were one of their own. Together with Maria, we went on six outings during which I discovered Malta’s monuments, hidden gems, and tourist sites. Through the lessons, I truly became more familiar with the English language, and daily immersion greatly improved my skills. I stayed for three weeks with Stephen and Helen in Donegal, Ireland. I experienced unforgettable moments with their family, and I learned about the cultural traditions of their region. It was an incredible experience. I also had the opportunity to spend a week volunteering at a Child Care Center, which allowed me to develop new skills (speaking English with 3-year-old children was a real challenge!). I warmly thank the whole family of Stephen for their hospitality, as well as Solène from Linguifamily, who pre-selected a host family that met both my objectives: a stay in Ireland AND volunteering. Linguifamily has developed a very good idea by allowing families to get in touch and organize language stays with each other. One must take the time to discuss and make sure everything 'matches' and organize the stay themselves (dates, travel, documents), but Linguifamily guides and reminds us of what we need to do. It’s different from the standard packages offered by other agencies. I find this enriching system because it strongly involves both families in the preparation. The first immersion stay (without lessons) for our son was perfect, and the Spanish host family was very attentive and fully integrated him into their daily life and vacation activities. He came back with great memories and is ready to go again.
