Welcome to Marlene and Ray's house.

We welcome you to our home. We live on the outskirts of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, and only 30 minutes by car away from the City Centre of Birmingham. We also live quite close to Birmingham International Airport.
We offer a varied and international cuisine, and we enjoy having our guests join us for lunch / dinner, where we can also have a pleasant conversation and relax shortly after our meals. We have two spare bedrooms to offer to our guests, one single room for one person, and the other room has a single bed plus a single sofa bed, so it's ideal for two people. There is one shower and toilet upstairs, and one toilet downstairs. And there is another toilet and bathroom for the host family. Guests don't need to bring towels, we can offer bath and hand towels.

I have my own classroom in the same grounds of the house where we live. I have been teaching English and other foreign languages for well over 20 years.

A special request for the period between 23rd July and 19th August: I will be very happy to welcome a student from France or another country, age between 14 and 16 years to join a 14 year old Italian boy who will be staying during the time I mentioned above. If adult guests wish to come to our house directly, they would advise us of the approximate time of their arrival (we are about 25 minutes away from Birmingham International Airport by car/taxi). If they arrive at New Street train station in Birmingham, it would also take them about 25 minutes to reach Sutton station by train, and then about 5 to 8 minutes by taxi to our house (your host family) on Springfield road. For any student under 18 years old, it would be recommended to arrange for pick up from the airport.

Life with your host family

When we welcome guests, young people and adults of course, we start by showing them around the house and their room, etc. We are flexible so there is no exact time for breakfast, and we can talk about it on the first day of the guests' arrival, and of course we talk about our approximate times for lunch and dinner.
