A Typical Day with Us
A day in our home is a perfect mix of warmth, routine, and adventure, offering our guests an authentic Irish experience. We are a friendly and welcoming family of three who love sharing our culture and way of life.
Sean, as a self-employed interior designer, has a flexible schedule, allowing him to balance work with time at home. Lisa, my wife, works as a Special Needs Assistant at a local national school, a role she is deeply passionate about. Our son, Cathal, is 15 years old and attends the local secondary school, where he enjoys sports and spending time with friends.
Mornings
Mornings in our home start early, with everyone preparing for their day. After a hearty breakfast, Lisa and Cathal head off to school, while Sean organizes his work schedule. If you're interested in seeing how traditional Irish craftsmanship works, Sean is always happy to share insights into his business.
Afternoons
After lunch, depending on the day, we like to make the most of our beautiful surroundings. We are fortunate to live in a stunning part of Ireland, surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Just five minutes away, we have the Discovery Parklands, a fantastic place for walking, cycling, and enjoying nature. We love spending time outdoors and often take guests along to explore this peaceful retreat.
Our home is also close to one of Europe's most important monastic sites, Clonmacnoise, a place steeped in history where Pope John Paul II once held mass. Walking through the ruins and along the River Shannon, you will truly feel the presence of history. We enjoy bringing guests here to experience its beauty and significance.
Evenings and Weekends
In the evenings, we come together as a family for dinner, often sharing stories from our day. We love home-cooked meals but also enjoy dining out, especially by the River Shannon, Ireland’s largest river. It’s a wonderful place to unwind, enjoy delicious food, and take in the stunning views.
Weekends are for adventure. We frequently take trips to nearby castles, such as Leap Castle, famous for its mysterious and haunted past, and Kinnitty Castle, a grand and picturesque estate where we sometimes stop for afternoon tea. These outings give guests a real taste of Irish history and legend.
When we're not exploring, we love to relax at home, play board games, enjoy lively conversations, and make our guests feel like part of the family. We believe in creating a home away from home, where visitors can experience the best of Irish hospitality.
