Learn english in Ireland with Janet

We enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading to school and work. I work from home 3 days a week. Breakfast usually consists of porridge, cereal, eggs, and toast with a hot cup of Irish tea. At the weekends, it’s more relaxed, and we don’t need to be up as early or hurry anywhere. We enjoy a full Irish breakfast or pancakes with different toppings as a treat.

We like to go for a walk or cycle in our scenic countryside village or travel to the nearest towns filled with many amenities like beaches, shops, restaurants, leisure centers, and cinemas. Our children enjoy being members of many activities available on our doorstep like our GAA football, hurling, swimming, and dancing. My husband and son are big golfing fans and enjoy playing whenever the weather is suitable. Jamie usually has a soccer match on Sunday mornings, so that’s a trip away for a few hours; our guest is always welcome to join us.

We are very happy to accommodate any student staying with us to join in many sports available if they wish to do so at an extra cost, which can vary from summer GAA camps, cookery camps, crafts, swimming pool, gym, golf, soccer, water sports.

We enjoy home-cooked meals, reading, listening to music, and visiting family and friends. When the weather's good, we enjoy going to the beach for walks and swimming. We are very lucky to live in the beautiful southeast. We have the most beautiful scenic views around us, and a short drive away in the stunning Emerald Isle, there is always somewhere to visit and make many new memories.

I can offer volunteering or work experience placement (internship) for guests aged 15 upwards who are looking to gain work experience or an internship in Ireland. We have a lot of work experience offers in restaurants working in the kitchen preparing food for service or indeed as a waiter serving in a restaurant or in a hotel in our local town. We can also offer other forms of work experience depending on the nature of what you wish to do during your time in Ireland. We like all our students to stay a minimum of 2 weeks in order to see a lot of our country and gain some experience.

We can also assist if you would like to experience going to school or college in Ireland for a period of 4 to 9 months from September to June. This is an amazing experience for you in one of our academic programmes completing the transition year in our local secondary schools (again this is for students aged 15/16/17).

For students aged 17 upwards, we also have a College of Further Education that offers courses such as Accounting Technician, Business Administration, Business Studies, Sports Science, Sports Exercise and Coaching, Beauty Therapy, Art Portfolio, Graphic Design, Healthcare Support, Nursing Studies, Special Needs Assistant, Engineering, Laboratory Assistant, and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations. These are all excellent courses should you wish to take a year out after secondary school and experience another country while practicing English and seeing the culture available in another country.

As a family, we love to assist our students to immerse themselves in the Irish language and culture and improve their English and leave as confident individuals. All you need to do is integrate yourself totally and bring home many happy memories of your time in Ireland.
