There are six in our family. I’m an English teacher in a secondary school and John works as a sales representative. Dylan is in his twenties and works as an operative. Amy and Leah are eighteen. They are in university in Dublin during the week and home to train and work at weekends. They love sports and play GAA football. Maya is in secondary school and is fifteen. For academic students, I can host 13-19 year olds, boys or girls.
We have hosted guests of all ages, from teenagers to seniors.
I can organise work experience in our locality and/or an academic stay in a secondary school.
I can offer a work experience stay for older teenagers and adults, similar to what Irish students experience in their fourth year of secondary school, along with some family activities.
There are two language schools locally. Our guests have found the classes really beneficial, either as a daytime activity or alongside work experience.
I am unable to facilitate an immersion experience with no structured activities for younger children or teenagers.

We can help the student find an internship, a small job or volunteering opportunities. We offer work experience in a variety of local businesses and charity shops, information on request. This is suitable for older teenagers (15 years and older), adults and seniors.

I am an English teacher and have been for 24 years. I have given lessons to foreign students on many occasions. The language school locally runs English small group classes suited to all levels. They also offer a summer camp for teenagers over July and August, with lessons in the morning to suit the different English levels and fun activities in the afternoon. I can put you in touch with them to book directly. I can organize excursions for you if you have any requirements. Gym membership is available for €60 per month if you are staying longer. A set of 10 passes is €100. Rugby, athletics, soccer, basketball, badminton, Pilates and hockey all available for students attending the school at no extra cost. Canoeing in school is €50 for the year to cover insurance.

Life with your host family

On a typical school day we go to work and school before 8am. In the evenings, we go to training sessions for sports, for walks with the dog, to the gym and to matches to support the girls and their various teams.
