Welcome to Our Family Home

Hello, I’m Paula, and for over 17 years my family and I have proudly hosted students from all over the world in our warm, safe home in Callan, County Kilkenny. I live in the house full-time and care for each student as part of our family. My son Aaron and his partner Sandra (fluent in Spanish & English) live nearby and are deeply involved in every student’s stay. My daughter Leah is a nurse and returns home every week on her days off.

Sandra: supports students, especially Spanish speakers, helping them settle and feel at home

We often host students of different nationalities together to create a fun, multicultural environment where English is spoken naturally every day.

Academic Stays

Our main focus is half-term and full-term school placements, combining education, family life, and English immersion. We arrange school places, monitor progress, and support students in their studies and hobbies. Price: €1,200 per month for full and half terms

Short-Term Summer Sports Stays

Each summer we offer a small number of short-term sports stays. Students must commit to a chosen sport or activity such as rugby, martial arts, boxing, kickboxing, or jiu-jitsu, guided by Aaron. These active programmes mix sport, English practice, and Irish adventures, ensuring a fun and rewarding experience.

Alongside sports, we also provide short work-experience placements, usually in a local hotel, giving students a real opportunity to practice English in a professional environment while gaining valuable life and communication skills. These placements are open to students who already have a medium level of English, as they involve interacting with staff, guests, and the public.

Carefully selected families

Families wishing to host with Linguifamily must first create a detailed listing, with photos, a description of their living environment, and the activities they offer. We then verify the identity and criminal records of each family member and conduct a one-hour video interview to ensure their profile perfectly matches our expectations.

Each Linguifamily host family has committed to respecting our Quality Charter. Only the most serious, welcoming, and caring families are accepted and listed on our platform.

Secure payments

Linguifamily acts as a trusted third party for payments. Our payment interface, hosted by Société Générale, guarantees the confidentiality of your banking data and the security of each transaction.

We will ask you to pay a 30% deposit by credit card at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be due 6 weeks before the start of the stay, payable by credit card, Chèques Vacances, or bank transfer.

Book with confidence

Free cancellation up to 48 hours after payment. If the host family needs to cancel the stay (due to family or health issues), our team will offer you other host families that match your criteria, or you will be fully refunded.

We also offer coverage through Axa Travel Assistance insurance, which covers costs such as repatriation or cancellation in case of urgent medical or family emergencies.

24/7 assistance

A question, an unexpected situation, or a need on-site? Our team is available 24/7 to support you continuously, before, during, and after your stay.

Problems are very rare, but in case of any issues, we intervene quickly to find a solution with the host family or, if necessary, offer you an alternative.

Train or flight travel not included

The journey to your host family (plane, train, or bus) is at your expense... and that's good news! It allows you to freely choose your travel dates based on the most affordable prices and the schedules that suit you.

However, your host family may offer to pick you up from the train station or airport (either for free or as an optional service).
