We are a family of three plus. My husband John, our son Darragh and myself Margaret (not forgetting our dogs). We are a caring, loving family. We love spending time together going on many trips, but also like our quiet time. We work great as a team and it's very much "we all dirty the house, we all clean it," and we will encourage you to get involved too. One of us will always be at home to welcome you after a school day or trip.

We don't mind hosting students of the same nationality. We have no preference either way. We can accommodate 4 students, but 3 would have to share the same room.

Both my husband and I are TEFL trained and take a lot of short term students during the summer. We can also pick up for free from Templemore or Thurles train station or bus from Roscrea that travels directly from Dublin Airport to Roscrea Co Tipperary

Life with your host family

We can work together to try and arrange activities, trips etc to meet your needs and interests. We have a home gym also, and you are welcome to use it. We can also provide one-to-one English tuition at an extra charge. I, myself, Margaret, am at home full time, so driving etc. is not a problem.

Stay of 1 week

My 16-year-old daughter had a very pleasant week with Margaret and John. She did an internship that allowed her to improve her English. Margaret is very attentive and present. My daughter is thrilled with her stay.

Stay of 3 weeks

The welcome was very good, the family was friendly despite some heavy jokes. Otherwise, in terms of activities, we didn't do much except for one outing to the sea, one to Dublin, and one to Limerick. Other than that, it was work at home every day, which is very tiring after a while.
