NEW HOST

Meet your host family: Jacqueline in Ireland

Welcome to Nigel & Jacqueline’s house

We are a busy active family of 5. Our eldest is at college so mainly lives in Dublin. Full-time at home with us is our daughter Amelia and our youngest son Sebastian.

We live in beautiful Co. Wicklow (the garden of Ireland) surrounded by mountains and the sea.

We have 3 friendly dogs, so we are an active family walking, hiking, and swimming at our beautiful local beach. Our daughter rides horses, so we compete a lot, and our youngest son loves to mountain bike, play rugby, and go swimming and have fun with his friends on the beach. We would love to welcome a boy his age to accompany him on his adventures!

We love to grow, cook, and eat our own food and enjoy cuisine from around the world - from Asian to Mediterranean food with regular family barbecues and roasting marshmallows on the fire pit.

Our latest project is building a wood-fired pizza oven from scratch, and we look forward to hosting lots of family and friends from it.

We have a barn that we built ourselves, and it has become a very special place where we cook and socialize with friends to have fun.

We love to open our home to new people & share cultural experiences, food, and life.

In June, if we have a student stay with us, for example, there will be one of us (adults) around most of the day to do activities...either swimming, hiking, biking, cinema (if the weather is not great!), fishing, and general activities and projects around the house and land.

We look forward to opening our home and welcoming an adventurous and outgoing teenager who loves to have fun and enjoys good food and the outdoor life.

Your Irish immersion experience :
A typical day with us

Hiking mountains, going down mountain biking trails, sea swimming and saunas, visiting local beach, lots of cooking over barbecue and witnessing the construction of a new outdoor pizza oven which is our latest project, outside our Barn, where we host friends & family for dinners and music.
We are an outdoor family so we like to be very active.
Some travel to other countries is also possible for sightseeing and some cultural events.

Let us know what activities you would like to do and we can build that into your trip.

We also have a veggie garden and grow cut flowers so that keeps us occupied too.

If you like the outdoor life and enjoy good homemade food and are sociable - we would love to host you.

We speak reasonable Spanish & French too 😊 we are very family oriented and love spending time with our children and our closest family and are very committed to ensuring that our student has a good time.
