Hello my name is Anne and I am married to Dermot for 44 years we have 1 son who is married and living in Kildare. We have been hosting students for the past 5 years, we enjoy hosting and taking our students on trips. I coordinate 40 students in 7 schools and organise outings for them, keeping their needs in mind and supporting them while in schools in Galway. It is a very rewarding job. A typical day with us is filled with a balance of relaxation, adventure, and immersive learning experiences. We start the day with a hearty breakfast where we can chat and plan the day's activities. Mornings often include a trip to nearby locations for a walk through one of our favourite local trails. These outings provide a perfect backdrop for casual English conversation, helping you practice language skills in a natural, enjoyable setting.
After lunch, Anne will guide you on a cultural day trip to a local historical site or local activity where we can dive into discussions about our culture, history, art, and local traditions. These experiences are not just about seeing the sights but also about engaging in thoughtful conversations that help you learn English through real-world contexts.
In the afternoon, you might join Anne for an informal English lesson on a topic of your choice and of interest to you, whether it’s discussing photography techniques, exploring creative arts, or activities that simulate real-life situations. We believe learning English is most effective outside the traditional classroom, where you can connect the language with experiences that matter to you.
Evenings are family time, where we often cook dinner together, sharing recipes and stories from our cultures. This is another great opportunity to practice English in a warm, friendly environment. We might end the day with a relaxing movie night or a board game where we can discuss the film, play games, and any new vocabulary you’ve learned.
Our goal is to make your stay not just educational, but also fun and memorable, ensuring you leave with improved English skills and wonderful memories. Available to host students up to the age of 18 years. Day trips to the Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands, surfing in Lahinch. These are optional; students pay separately for these sightseeing tours.
