Welcome to Caroline & Karen's in La Guittière
Caroline and Karen: we are an active couple who love making the most of the beautiful Vendee coast and countryside. We are just a few minutes from the local beach, where we do various water sports, as well as run and walk the dogs. We are both currently working as teachers for Nantes university, private clients, local community groups and the CCI, as well as hosting immersion students.
We have a warm and welcoming home with lots of animals, in a beautiful area.
Will host students from 15 years old.
Prices listed are for full board with complementary activities, including lots of practical learning opportunities.
One week stays are from Sunday from 16:00 until 12:00 the following Saturday. We DO NOT offer immersion only stays, so a lesson package must be added to complete the booking. All lessons are tailor made to each individual based on their needs and requirements. We have done a lot of intensive work with Prepa students and are a great option to work on increasing school grades. The minimum number of hours is 10 and can be increased up to 25. Both of us being existing university teachers in France, we are perfectly set up to evaluate and teach students and adults alike. We also both have experience with adult education whether it's for business English or just to improve to travel etc.
Shorter stays are available, as are 'immersion days' (lessons, lunch and an activity) for more local students.
A relaxed morning allowing for breakfast and conversation followed by the first lesson of the day. Optional walk with the dogs in the local area (either to the beach or local countryside), using 'walk and talk' to practice oral skills. Lunch can then be prepared together (if wanted), and a sit down and discussions while eating.
Some 'free time' in the afternoon where the student can either have some time to themselves (to study for example, if a Prep student), or get involved with activities (depending on season and weather). We are an active couple and can offer sports such as running, paddleboarding, kayaking, cycling etc.
Late afternoon will be the second lesson, tailored specifically to the students needs or requests. Lessons are interactive and varied.
Then dinner (we can adapt to dietary requirements). On a weeks' stay we will try to have at least one dinner with English speaking friends, to offer an opportunity to talk in a group, with different accents and nationalities.
Evenings can be spent playing games, watching English movies, spending time with friends or just relaxing. In the summer months other activities may be possible (walks, trips to the beach, visiting local seasonal events etc). All bookings must include a lesson package. WE DO NOT OFFER IMMERSION ONLY STAYS. Minimum of 10 hours of lessons per booking.
Accommodation will be either in the dependence (during summer months) or in a bedroom in the house (in colder months, or if preferred).
Bonjour, je suis un garçon de 16 ans et je suis très heureux d’avoir fait ce séjour chez Caroline et Karen qui sont des personnes très gentilles et attentionnées. Cela m’a permis de m’améliorer énormément en anglais avec des cours sérieux et efficaces. J’ai fait de nombreuses activités comme du paddle, du kayak, aller se baigner à la mer, des randonnées, cuisiner ou encore des jeux de sociétés… Tous les animaux sont très gentils notamment les chiens. Merci pour tout et je recommande fortement !
