We are happy to host people across most ages and capabilities including people with specific language needs such as TOIEC exam preparation or business language skills. I am TEFL qualified and have been teaching English as a foreign language for several years and Stephen has a degree in English.
We can host up to 2 people at a time - family members, friends or work colleagues!
We can also offer 'séjours spéciaux stage de seconde' - please enquire further.
We are full-time French residents, have clean police background checks and up-to-date public liability insurance that covers us for tourist stays.

We can help the student find an internship, a small job or volunteering opportunities. We can offer internship placements for work experience during June and July (one person at a time) for school students and at other times subject to seasonal needs, helping us to run our gite and chambre d'hote business. Work would include helping with cleaning and setting up the accommodation, some interaction with guests, learning about the booking platforms we use and how they function, seeing how we keep track of our bookings and income and how we declare things like taxe de sejour. These are booked as 'sejours' with language lessons provided. please enquire for pricing.

We require some language lessons and activities to be booked via the platform but will arrange the remaining directly with you. Lessons are structured but can be informal, conversational/practical style lessons or formal grammar and vocabulary style lessons. We can also tailor lessons for specific TOEIC study or business needs. It is really important that students enjoy their holiday, so whilst we normally require 1 hour of lessons, we also suggest no more than 2.5 hours a day. You can learn plenty of English, practice your pronunciation, improve your fluency and test your understanding, just by spending time with us. All it takes is your willingness to learn! We are happy to look at tailoring stays and fees to suit where possible - please message us to discuss. Other paid options can be available including visit to Puy de Fou / Futuroscope (subject to availability), as well as local activities like bread making courses - again subject to availability. The prices for activities in the area vary greatly but there are plenty of things to do that suit smaller budgets!. We generally accompany students and take part in the activities with them and they are priced accordingly, with the exception of horse riding. For this activity, if the student wishes to be accompanied by the host, there would be an additional fee, however the prices in the area vary a lot, so depending on the riding school there may not be anything else - if not sure just book the activity deposit and we can discuss options directly. Other paid activities can be arranged once a booking is made. We will normally do at least one activity a day and for every period booked there will be a minimum of paid activities required - eg for a week's stay (6 night - 7 days) a min of 4 paid activities is required. Please ensure you /your child have/has spending money for any extras you/they might want to buy including souvenirs and please ensure you discuss other activities with us prior to the visit so that we can have plenty of time to arrange them.

Life with your host family

Our normal day consists of breakfast between 8 - 9am – what’s on offer?? Cereal/toast/yoghurt/fruits – we follow a gluten-free (not celiac) diet but can cater to other requirements. Then structured classes are usually in the morning (these can be formal grammar and vocabulary lessons or more informal conversational lessons with practical tasks like cooking).
Lunches are kept light, sandwiches/eggs benedict/omelettes etc, so you are not too full to enjoy the afternoon activities!

He spent a little week with Emma and Stephen. He was very satisfied with the activities carried out (swimming pool, bowling, canoeing). The environment suited him well and he was very happy to travel in Stephen's beautiful car.

A very nice, welcoming and friendly family. Emma helps me a lot to understand better English grammar and I loved cooking with her. My daughter came back delighted. Emma and Stephen made her feel at ease. I feel she has made a leap in understanding but also in expression. Thank you to them!
