English immersion or preparatory classes in Dordogne with Susan and Peter
We offer an English language immersion experience for adults and teenagers in the north of the Dordogne. We are also experienced in providing preparatory classes for business or science studies (CPEG). We accept students with a minimum level of B1 (CEFR) in English.
We are an energetic couple offering a wide variety of sports and cultural activities. Our house is a bright and modern home, situated in the center of a beautiful natural park in the Dordogne.
Susan is a qualified and enthusiastic teacher who tailors the lessons to the needs and interests of each individual. The lessons usually include interactive online resources (such as podcasts, videos, games, and quizzes), role-playing, the production of a learning journal, and a workbook for reference to take home. Susan also has experience in teaching preparatory classes such as for Mines Ponts, Centrale, ECRICOME, ECG, etc. A minimum of 10 hours of classes is required during the stay, as we believe this is essential to ensure an appropriate level of language improvement.
Peter is a former business manager, former CEO, and former national cycling champion. Susan has over 10 years of experience hosting adults and teenagers, and 20 years of commercial experience in international sales and marketing.
Each guest will have their own double room with a double bed and a private bathroom.

Our house is an English enclave, we speak English all the time; there is English TV/radio/DVDs/Netflix, English board games, English books and magazines; however, the food is international. - even our neighbors are English, and many activities take place with English speakers.
Students are constantly encouraged and assisted to speak in English, and we do our best to teach them English customs and culture.
We welcome students and adults of all levels, offering a total immersion in an English-speaking environment. We encourage students to take a minimum of 10 hours of classes per week (optional) if they want to see lasting improvement in their language learning. Susan has a degree in science, a postgraduate degree in business, and a grade A TESOL qualification. In addition to over 10 years of hosting experience, Susan also has 3 years of teaching business English online.
Lessons are personalized according to the needs and interests of the students - whether for review, exam preparation, conversation to improve confidence, or English for specific purposes (e.g. business, science, tourism, thesis preparation, etc.) During the stay, a learning journal is kept, and students go home with a workbook and reference material.
In addition to the 10 hours of classes during the week, there is a wide variety of cultural and sports activities to choose from.
Afternoon cultural excursions include: Brantôme: Venice of Périgord, St Jean de Cole: one of the most beautiful villages, Oradour: martyr village, castle visits (6 in the region), garden visits, or excursions to Angoulême, Périgueux, or Limoges.
Other afternoon activities: cycling (with us or in a club), fitness/yoga/pilates, golf, karting on an international track, horseback riding or in a paddock, 3 swimming lakes with beaches and water sports, river kayaking, bowling, tree climbing, cave visits, rappelling, hiking, rail biking, cooking (at home or in a cooking class), photography (in a course), scrapbooking, etc.
J'ai passé une semaine géniale chez Susan et Peter, j'étais en totale immersion anglaise. Étant en classe préparatoire scientifique, je suis venue pour m'entraîner aux épreuves écrites et orales d'anglais et préparer au mieux les concours. C'était super car Susan connaissait bien les différentes épreuves et a su me donner de nombreux conseils. On a donc fait ensemble des traductions, des expressions écrites et aussi une colle ! Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine chez Susan et Peter. Susan est une excellente cuisinière, Peter a beaucoup d'humour. Tous deux sont très dynamiques, très sportifs, ouverts et attentifs aux besoins de chacun. Le lieu idéal pour la nature, le calme, les fleurs, les petits oiseaux, la convivialité et l'humour 'british' et pour .....Susan et Peter.
J’étais très bien installé, la chambre était très bien, mes hôtes étaient très disponibles pour moi. Leurs amis étaient anglais (même les français parlaient anglais !), tout étaient en anglais. Une vraie immersion. J’ai pu faire beaucoup de vélo (j’avais emporté le mien car j’avais vu que Peter était un ex coureur cycliste), scrabble en anglais, fitness avec Susan (c’était sympa). J’avais emmené des lectures en anglais, j’ai vu des films en anglais, tv ou documentaire Netflix. Mes hôtes se sont vraiment bien occupés de moi. Les cours de Susan étaient très bien, j’ai fait des progrès à l’écrit ; à l’oral j’étais plus vigilant pour faire moins de fautes. Accueil très sympa et correspondait vraiment à ce que je voulais. Par contre je ferais un séjour plus long si c’est possible (3 semaines serait mieux) ! Gaëtan, Juillet 2020
