Welcome to Una family

Hello!

My name is Una, and I live with my family in the beautiful and historic city of Kilkenny, Ireland. I’m married to Derek, and we have four wonderful children: Aoibhin, Conor, Eoin, and Ryan. We also share our home with two friendly dogs, Olly and Sully.

We are a very active family, and much of our time is spent at sports events and training sessions. Our children are involved in hurling, camogie, soccer, handball, golf, and rugby, so our evenings and weekends are usually busy and full of energy!

I have been hosting students for over 10 years, and it’s something I truly enjoy. We love welcoming young people into our home and sharing our way of life with them. I’m still in contact with many of the students who have stayed with us over the years, and it’s always lovely to hear how they are getting on.

We look forward to meeting you and hope you will feel at home with our family!

A typical day with us

A Typical Day During the Summer Holidays

A usual summer day in our home is relaxed and active in equal measure! In the morning, everyone has breakfast when they get up. The early part of the day is often spent unwinding — watching TV, playing on the PlayStation, or enjoying time on the trampoline in the garden.

At lunchtime, we all gather for a meal, and afterwards we usually head out for some activity. We might go to the local golf range, which is just a one-minute walk from our house. Sometimes we visit our local hurling club for a puck-around, or we go to the nearby tennis courts for a game.

We have dinner together around 5 or 6 pm. In the evening, there is usually a match or activity on — one of the kids might have hurling, camogie, rugby, or soccer — and we often go along as a family. Any student staying with us is very welcome to join in and come along to these events!
