NEW HOST

Meet your host family: Gabrielle in Ireland

A warm Irish Welcome with Gabrielle

I’m a retired businesswoman and I have been hosting since 2017. So far I have one Spanish boy, Nicolás, aged 16. I have a little dog named Bono. He’s 14 years old, but very active and affectionate. We live in a house close to the river and a short walk from the City. The bus stop is just 2 minutes walk away.
My hobbies include travelling, reading, gardening, gym, and baking. I also enjoy writing and I have published poetry, travel magazine articles, and contributed to professional textbooks.
Nico is very outgoing and loves making new friends. He likes going to the gym.
Some of the people I host enjoy helping me make delicious cakes. I enjoy cooking too, and I make the most wonderful dinners. I’m a very warm and welcoming person and I do everything I can to ensure my students feel at home in Ireland.

Your Irish immersion experience :
A typical day with us

I host students for an academic year and/or short stays. Long stay students quickly make new friends at school. I always encourage them to bring their friends to our house for visits. I live very close to several beaches and my students always love to visit them.
There are fantastic opportunities for beach and sea activities including surfing and sailing. I bake a lot of cakes and many of my guests enjoy helping. There are many clubs and activities close to us and, typically, long stay students join a local gym or sports team.
In the winter we love to sit by the fire watching movies and drinking hot chocolate. I'm a big rugby fan. Sometimes, if a guest is interested, we will go to a local pub to eat dinner and watch the rugby matches. Another great night out is to go to an Irish pub where musicians play lively traditional music. We also live a short way from the mountains and a favourite excursion is to drive there and walk to a beautiful waterfall.
For short stay students I enjoy creating suggested activities tailored to the student’s wishes. Let me know what you like to do and I’ll tailor an experience just for you.
