NEW HOST

Meet your host family: Sharon in United Kingdom

Welcome to Sharon's House

Welcome to Sharon's home!

I'm Sharon and I live in a three-bedroom house in a small town on the outskirts of Nottingham. I have two children who are now grown up and doing their own thing but still visit me often. I have 2 dogs and a cat - all very friendly.

I have always worked in supporting roles mainly with children and young adults. For the last 12 years, I have been working as a children's tutor as well as a disability tutor and mentor for university students.

I have previously hosted French and Spanish exchange students between the ages of 13 - 19, which I have really enjoyed. I love working with young people and enjoy having young people stay in my home.

I currently have two bedrooms available. The bedroom upstairs includes a double loft bed and futon sofa bed, while the bedroom downstairs contains a double bed and lots of storage.

I am an active individual who likes to get out and explore new places. I enjoy walking and being in the great outdoors. I also love cooking, reading, and spending time with my family.

Proposed activities:

Your English immersion experience :
A typical day with us

I would have a chat with the young person to find out what interests they have and tailor the activities around their interests. An example of some of the activities we could do together would be:
getting to know the local area including the nearby canal walk and beautiful parks in the area such as Wollaton Park, and Highfields Boating Lake - where we could test our rowing skills.
A tour of Nottingham
Museums and art galleries
Nottingham castle
Local animal farms
Local parks that have sports facilities such as outdoor gyms or tennis courts
Picnics

There are also lots of activities in the surrounding areas which may incur an additional cost for admission and transport. The activities would be tailored to suit the guests' interests such as a trip to the seaside or hiking in the nearby beautiful Peak District.
