A Typical Day in Our Home
From Monday to Friday, we usually wake up at around 7:00am and enjoy a relaxed start to the day together. Breakfast is served downstairs in the kitchen and is generally “help yourself” style, with toast, cereal, fruit, juice, and hot drinks available.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Sarah works from her home office. During these days, students are welcome to study quietly in the dining area or in their bedroom. There is also plenty to explore locally, including a lovely walk down to the beach, which is around 25 minutes away on foot. Regular buses nearby also make it easy to visit Liverpool, Chester, and our surrounding local towns. From Liverpool, there are excellent train connections to other major cities including Manchester, Leeds, and London.
Our home is generally calm and quiet, creating a comfortable environment for studying and relaxing. We do not regularly drink alcohol, although we are perfectly happy for guests to enjoy a glass of wine or beer with meals if they wish. We are also a non-smoking family - vaping is allowed in the outside veranda.
Lunch is usually simple and relaxed, often consisting of sandwiches or soup, with crisps, yoghurt, and a piece of fruit.
Dinner is normally served between 7:00pm and 8:00pm, when we sit together around the table as a family. Evening meals are home-style, warm, and relaxed, followed by a dessert such as yoghurt, fruit, or ice cream.
After dinner, we often spend time chatting about our day, watching a film, gardening, going for a walk, or simply relaxing together at home. Our usual bedtime is between 11:00pm and midnight, and we kindly ask for the house to remain quiet after this time so everyone can rest comfortably.
English lessons will be provided by Sarah. Your level of English will be reviewed when you arrive so that lessons and conversations can be tailored to your individual needs and confidence level.
Weekends are generally more social and flexible. We enjoy gardening, meeting up with friends, exploring local areas such as Wales, Chester, and nearby beaches, as well as activities like pottery painting, meals out, and relaxing day trips. We love giving guests the opportunity to experience local life, culture, and family activities while feeling welcomed and included as part of our family.
