Welcome to Janice's home
Hello, I'm Jan, a seasoned educator with a background in product design, fashion, and textiles. As a former course leader and teacher in London, I'm delighted to offer a unique hosting experience in the heart of the city. My home provides a tranquil and bespoke environment, ideal for students seeking a personalised experience.
My interests include art, textiles, history, pottery, reading, and cooking – all creative pursuits that fuel my passion for learning and sharing knowledge. I was born in London, I'm well-versed in the city's hidden gems and popular attractions. Having enjoyed success with private tuition, I thrive on seeing students achieve quick results and witnessing their growth. I'm excited to share my expertise and hospitality with students seeking a supportive and inspiring environment in London and who want to brush up on their English skills.
We do not offer the Total Immersion Guarantee, so there may be other students who speak the same language as you during the stay.
The flat I reside in is an 18th-century 2-bedroom flat that can only host 1 extra person.
A typical day with me would be a quintessential British adventure! We'd start with a traditional English breakfast, in my cosy home or at a charming local café. After fueling up, we'd take a stroll through the nearby park or visit the local library, where we could get lost in the pages of a classic British novel or discover some of London's hidden literary gems.
With my insider knowledge as a Londoner and ex-teacher, I'd take you on a fascinating tour of the city's iconic landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, or Big Ben. We'd hop on the tube and head to Oxford Street, where we could indulge in some retail therapy or visit iconic stores like Selfridges. Or, we'd head to trendy Islington, where we could explore the vibrant street art scene, grab a coffee at a quirky café, or sample some of the area's renowned foodie delights.
The highlight of the day would be our creative class, where we'd unleash our inner artists and get creative with traditional British crafts, such as pottery, textiles, or painting. We might even try our hand at making some classic British treats, like scones or shortbread. As a former teacher, I'd be delighted to share my passion for art and learning with you, and I'm sure we'd have a fantastic time exploring our creative sides together.
Throughout the day, we'd chat about everything from British history and culture to London's secrets and surprises. We might even have a spot of tea and a chat about our favorite British authors, like Shakespeare or Jane Austen. I'd love to learn more about your interests and tailor the day to your preferences, so we can make the most of our time together. Whether you're looking for a relaxing retreat or an action-packed adventure, I promise to make your stay with me an unforgettable British experience!
