Homestay Equestrian Camp Ireland

Our Homestay Equestrian Camps provide an outstanding horseback riding experience through unspoiled mountain pastures, rich with landscapes, legends and hidden Irish history. We have teamed up with a centre whose knowledgeable instructors will guide you through this stunningly beautiful countryside.

The facilities are annually inspected and approved by the Association of Irish Riding Establishments (AIRE).

Included is riding instruction, treks, and mounted games. Children also spend time learning about ponies, how to groom, feed, lead, tack up and care for them. Children are trained particularly in the importance of body language and positive reinforcement in the handling of horses and ponies. Instruction is also given on the parts of the saddle and bridle, and on how to clean them. Each camp ends with a gymkhana on the final day, with competitions suitable for all levels of participant and the chance to win various prizes.
Pony Camps are geared to teaching riding through the use of natural horsemanship techniques, particularly in relation to creating a bond with your pony in and out of the saddle.
The camps are suitable for children, boys and girls, aged 5– 18 of all levels of ability, from lead-rein novices to competent jumpers.
Classes are taught in small groups based on the age and experience of the riders.
Equestrian Camps run Monday to Friday from 9.30am-5.30pm.

Wk 2 tours include trips to the famous Rock of Cashel, Glen of Aherlow, Cycling Greenways
We are a family with 6 children. The eldest child is 12, the youngest is 1. We have been hosting students for the past 8 years, all of whom are still in touch with us and some have even come back again. We are a happy, relaxed family who like to have fun and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Our 7 bedroom house is located in a nice quiet country location in Co. Tipperary, over 1km from the small town of Borrisoleigh and 12km from the larger town of Thurles. Next door to our house is Fairy Fort Farm which is owned by Derry’s father. It is open to visitors during the Summer (for us all year round :) ) and has a wide mixture of animals such as ponies, goats, ducks, hens, geese, rabbits etc.

Outdoor activities are a favourite pastime here. It could be just a nice walk around the farm next door, feeding the animals or a hike to the top of the nearby Devil’s Bit mountain close by.

We have a 9 seater car/ mini bus for transporting us all around and like to go on excursions to woodland walks, lakeside locations, hill-walking or various festivals which take place throughout the Summer where you can experience Irish culture and heritage.

The Equestrian camp is 9km or 15 minute drive from our house. We will drop and collect you and will also provide a packed lunch to eat at the camp. All dietary requirements catered for.
